Pearls or a sari?

The heroine in Liz Carlyle’s The Bride Wore Pearls is a rarity in Victorian romance novels, a woman of mixed heritage. The exotic Anisha is half British and half Indian. That background is successfully utilized in the boudoir scenes. The book is lengthy at 422 pages with sufficient twists and turns before the hero’s scandalous situation introduced in the prologue is resolved. Rance fights his attraction to Anisha for some time, but is, of course, doomed to fail. She is a lady who will not be denied.
