The Day RT came to me

Take a look at these two fabulous women.  The lady on the left is Lindsey Ross, voracious romance reader, and my cyber BFF. she has been a cheerleader and my beta reader, pointing out my strengths and weaknesses in my manuscript. She let me know what she liked best (my characters Dex and Viscount Grentham-right Lindsey?), and what needs work. She has recently begun her own blog, Romance Reader Girl, and I know she will be wonderful, as she understands and loves Historical Romance and is interested in promoting new and upcoming romance authors.  :) The marvelous lady on the right is none other than Renee Bernard.  I discovered her books several years ago, with “A Lady of Pleasure.”  It was about a Duke.  Who was a rogue. And he was presumed to be a killer. You know I was all up into that book.  It is great!  Naturally, I...

Lyon's Bride by Cathy Maxwell

Lyon’s Bride is the first book in Cathy Maxwell’s historical romance series, The Chattan Curse. These books center around a curse cast upon Charles Chattan in 1632 when he broke the handfast to Scottish lass, Rose Macnachtan, to return to England and marry a Sassenach. Rose was so in love with Charles that she believed he’d return to her, and even kept watch for him on his wedding day. When Charlie didn’t return, so great was her grief that Rose ended her life. And thus, so great was her mother’s grief, that she placed a curse on all Chattan males: Watchers of the threshold, Watchers of the gate, open hell and seal Chattan’s Fate. When a Chattan male falls in love, strike his heart with fire from Above. Crush his heart, destroy his line; Only then will justice be mine.” The curse has held true through the generations, and death...

Being Gay during Regency Times-When True Love Might Not Always Mean a Happily Ever After

I’ve never been one for cookie cutter romance novels, although god knows I’ve read enough of them. Although I am aware that the Hero and the Heroine will eventually meet, have problems, overcome said problems and end up together, it’s always about the journey along the way.  But writing and reading Regency romance presents a different challenge, due to laws and custom.  And it isn’t just Regency, it all all Historical romance, but I will focus on Regency/Georgian/Victoria, as that is mostly what I read. A gay romantic hero. How do you write it? Can it be done? Can the couple have a happily ever after that satisfies us as romance readers ? First let me say I am concentrating on male/male relationships.  Frankly it is easier for a woman to have hidden her life during that time. If a woman didn’t marry, and chose to be a spinster, she could live...
