Latest Posts & Book Reviews

Click to view slideshow.   HOSTED BY HERDING CATS & BURNING SOUP and SIMPLY ANGELA.  Thanks! I thought I would do something a little different here.  I am going to go from Vampires with my audiobook copy of Lara Adrian’s A TOUCH OF MIDNIGHT (reviewed yesterday) to Mages and Monsters with a short review of THE WINTER KING (below the entry form). These two paranormals run the gamut from sexy alien vampires to high-fantasy sexy paranormals. They are the prizes for the hop! I enjoyed them both. The WINTER KING part of the prize is a new paperback copy from AVON and the A TOUCH OF MIDNIGHT  part is an “open box.” I used the MP3 CD to download the book so I could listen to it, but other than not having plastic on it, it works fine. HOW TO ENTER:   Just comment and use the Rafflecopter form. Please...

Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews – Review #AvonAddicts @ilona_andrews

Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews is the first book in the new Hidden Legacy series. I devoured this hot paranormal urban fantasy. I loved every minute of it. This story is amazing. Nevada Baylor has the ability to be a human lie detector. Her magic allows her to know with complete accuracy whether someone is telling the truth. While this can be handy in her private investigator business, it is not very helpful in the relationship department. Mad Rogan is a prime with the power to destroy entire cities. He is cold, closed off and used to getting his way through any means necessary. He will use people, money and his power to get what he wants. But Nevada ... Christmas in Transylvania by Sandra Hill – Review #AvonAddicts

Christmas in Transylvania by Sandra Hill is a holiday novella in the Deadly Angels series. I haven’t read any other books in this series. I felt the author did a nice job of introducing the premise of the series and of explaining the characters, settings and the idea behind the series. Karl is a viking vampire angel (vangel) who has been given a second chance to redeem himself for his misgivings. He frequents a diner in Transylvania, Pennsylvania, and has taken a liking to Faith, a waitress. When he learns that she is in an abusive relationship, he makes it his mission to save her. Meanwhile, the other vangels are busy setting up the castle for Christmas at the request of ... Writing Erotic Romance – Balancing Sex And Plot

This post has adult content. If you are under the age of eighteen years old and/or sensitive to adult language/situations, please do not read this post. One of the most common misconceptions about erotic romances is that the stories are a series of sex scenes strung together. Yep, kind of like very bad porn. The pizza guy arrives and, oh noes, our heroine doesn’t have money to pay him. “In lieu of payment,” our big breasted heroine pleads. “Can I strip off your clothes and ride your huge pepperoni?” (insert more bad pizza jokes here) Some days, when I’m completely brain dead, strung out on Nutella and strawberry licorice whips, I wish it were that simple. But no, readers expect a plot (thankfully, too much sex makes stories a very dull read). They expect the same level of plotting they find in traditional romances except they also want a sensual...

A visit with C.J. Kyle, author of Silent Night

Today I am so excited to welcome author C.J. Kyle to talk about her top five reasons why she writes romantic suspense. C.J. is celebrating the upcoming release of her new book, Silent Night, on October 28th. As a big fan of romantic suspense, I can't wait to pick it up. Take it away, C.J.! 5 Reasons to Write Romantic Suspense by CJ Kyle Spending time in any genre you love has to be the best reason in the world to write it. But, considering the topic of five reasons, let’s find a few more—off the wall, but still really great reasons—to write Romantic Suspense. 5. You get to kill people. No really, the old saying about watching what you do or you could end up in my next book, has never been truer than with a Romantic Suspense author. A person can be killed very quickly (usually this means...
