I'm a new Avon author and thrilled to be here. The editors, the marketing people, the party, the Addicts…what a great operation with a family feel.

Of course, I was excited to have my Cabin Fever series of novellas accepted for publication, and I loved working with Esi to make the stories as good as they could be. I immediately put my promo hat on (that hat doesn’t fit all that well yet, but I’m working on it). What could I do, besides tweeting my fingers off, to get the news of the series out there?

One thing worried me…price. In this competitive publishing environment, how many people are willing to put down five dollars they had to work hard for to buy a story that was about a quarter the length of a book, especially from an author they didn‘t know? I asked Avon how much they were planning to charge for my novellas. I was more than pleased to learn the answer was $1.99.

Now, it was my turn to do something to something a little extra. Everyone loves free stuff, right? I volunteered to write a free short story to introduce the Cabin Fever concept - that was, sexy people isolated in a romantic setting where they can shed their inhibitions and go for the pleasure. I wrote Brief Encounter about two people locked overnight in a museum of erotic art.  It's a little sumpin, sumpin from me to you.
