Charlotte meddles with Pride & Prejudice (Particularly Colin Firth)

Meet Lady Charlotte, a demure, devious young lady.

Meet James Beauchamp, a rogue and the only man for Charlotte.

Meet Penelope, the heroine’s pet fox.

Char and James are betrothed, but happily-ever-after eludes them…

Pride and Prejudice movie set, 1995.

Lyme Park, Disley, Cheshire, England

Suspend your disbelief…

Charlotte: James, you won’t believe what I have done!

James: I’m afraid I will.

Charlotte: I might have obtained a copy of the script for the movie version of Pride and Prejudice. Also, I might have made some revisions.

James: How?

Charlotte: It’s best if you don’t ask.

James: Did you disguise yourself as a boy, steal into the writers’ office in the darkest hour of the night, your heart pounding in terror as your risked discovery to scrawl your version of how the script ought to be?

Charlotte: You know me too well. I love you. I simply wrote a scene in which Darcy removes all of his clothing before jumping into a lake.

James: Should I be concerned? We are betrothed and yet you are scheming to get other men naked. …

Charlotte: Oh no, I was inspired by you! When I saw you for the first time…[blushing furiously]. I thought all Elizabeth needs to do is see him naked then she won’t refuse him. Logic, that.

Director: ACTION!

(This version has been edited to remove the sound of a fox barking madly in the distance, thus scaring Colin Firth/Mr. Darcy before he can remove all of his clothing, particularly his shirt.)

Charlotte: OH NO PENELOPE NO!!!!!

James: Did your plan go awry? Again? Darling? Funny how that keeps happening.

Charlotte: Well it wasn’t a total disaster…That linen does cling nicely… However, I have an another plan!

Question: Who is your favorite Darcy? Colin Firth, Matthew MacFadyen (from the 2005 version) or the one you imagine when you read the book? Comment for a chance to win a copy of A Tale of Two Lovers!
