Oct 06 - Book Review
Greetings & giveaways from Katharine Ashe!
Good morning!
I'm Katharine Ashe and I’m thrilled to be virtual owner of the blog today, and I thank my lovely hosts at CTR for inviting me. I have all sorts of fun planned, and some nifty prizes. But before we get started with that . . .
To my readers, thanks for coming along and for simply being so terrific.
To those of you who don’t know me yet, please allow me to introduce myself. I write historical romances full of passion and adventure for Avon Books. In April, I won the Reviewers’ Choice Award for Historical Romantic Adventure for Captured by a Rogue Lord, and in June How To Be a Proper Lady was an Amazon Editors’ Choice for the Top 10 books of the month. Thanks to my wonderful readers, my latest book, How a Lady Weds a Rogue, spent all last week on the Amazon top 20 list!
A few other essentials: I love cookies and champagne. I teach history and my university recently outted me as a romance author. I run a little, I tweet a little (usually about cookies, champagne and running), and I can’t get enough of writing romance. Oh, and I’ve dedicated my books to my wonderful husband, my son, my sisters, my dearest friends, my editor and agent, my mom, and my dogs.
That’s about it! Now, on to my Falcon Club series. Read up! At the end I’m going to ask you to answer a question and from your answers I’ll randomly choose one commenter to win a terrific gift. And I might even use your suggestion in an upcoming book!
The Falcon Club
A wealthy lord.
A lethal warrior.
A brilliant spy.
A stunning temptress.
A cunning strategist.
Five friends dedicated to a secret ongoing mission: find the missing and bring them home.
Concealed behind the façade of an exclusive gentlemen’s club, the Falcon Club is known only to a select few in the government. Spies within society, the club’s members prowl London’s sparkling ballrooms and squalid hells, seeking out valuable, elusive prey amongst the aristocracy — whoever wishes to remain hidden, whoever must be revealed for England’s safety. In wartime, the young agents used every weapon at their disposal to serve their kingdom, including amorous promises, reveling in the thrill of adventure.
Now the war is over and peace blankets Europe. The agents have been reassigned to other tasks, the tranquil tasks of peacetime.
And they’re through with it.
Peregrine, sole contact with the club’s shadowy chief, insists they continue. His friends—Eagle, Sea Hawk, Sparrow, and Raven—refuse. Slapping resignations onto the table, they bid him adieu and set off on new paths. One to hide away in the life of a country lord. Another to find atonement for the brutalities of his youth. A third seeking relief for her aching heart. The fourth to drink himself senseless… to forget.
Meet the former agents of the Falcon Club as they stumble through town amusements and great-house fêtes in search of normalcy. But a tenacious lady journalist has caught their scent. If she has her way, they will never be able to leave behind their former lives. While ducking discovery, will they finally fall prey to the most persistent hunter of all — love?

Here’s your chance to win an autographed copy of book #1 of the series, When a Scot Loves a Lady and a beautiful custom made, limited edition latte & tea mug! (This giveaway is limited to mailing addresses within the U.S. and Canda only.)
Answer this question and you’ll be entered: If a sixth agent joined the Falcon Club, should it be a woman or a man, and what code name should that agent have?
I’ll be back later today with another tidbit, this time from my newest Falcon Club book, How a Lady Weds a Rogue, and more gifts to give away.
Until then, happy romance and adventure!
p.s. I love to chat with readers about my books, other books and everything else romance related. In addition to twitter, you can also find me on Facebook and Pinterest where I pin images that have inspired both my Rogues of the Sea and Falcon Club series.
