Selena Montgomery
Selena Montgomery is the pen name of Stacey Abrams. Selena has published seven romantic suspense novels, with themes ranging from espionage to adventure to murder. She has won both the Reviewers' Choice Award and the Readers' Favorite Award from Romance in Color for Best New Author, and was featured as a Rising Star in 2001. “Part of Ms. Montgomery’s strength is her characterization. [Her characters] are solid creations, complex individuals who are breathing flawed individuals.” (Romance in Color). Her novel Never Tell was selected as a TOP PICK! by Romantic Times, and all of her novels have been critically acclaimed, with her latest Secrets and Lies and Hidden Sins both receiving 4 stars.
Like the alter egos in her novels, Selena maintains a dual identity. By day, she is State Representative for the 84th House District (Atlanta) of the Georgia General Assembly. Even her writing has multiple facets. As Stacey Abrams, she has published articles on issues of taxation, law, and nonprofit organizations with the Yale Law and Policy Review, The American Prospect, Southern University Law Review, and The Christian Science Monitor. Her first published article was with the Journal of the Astronomical Society of the Atlantic, a physics publication—when she was a senior in high school.
She draws upon her interests in law and politics both to fuel her writing and her extracurricular activities. She is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and was chosen by Atlanta Woman magazine as one of its “25 Power Women to Watch” and byGeorgia Trend for its “40 Under 40” list of young Georgia leaders. She also serves on a number of national and local nonprofit boards and advisory boards.OTHER DISCUSSIONS HAPPENING IN CONTEMPORARY Romance
