Cait London
Cait London (a pseudonym) is a prolific, bestselling writer with works published in 28 countries. She is one of relatively few full-time writers whose only income is writing novels. In her national award-winning career, she's written historicals, category/series, paranormal, and now romantic suspense for Avon. Currently, she has four ongoing and reissued series, the latest with HarperCollins/Avon, The Aislings, a psyhic triplet trilogy.
As Lois Kleinsasser (a name editors didn't want for her romance books), she moved to the Midwest from the sand and sage of rural Washington state. Her novels reflect that small-town upbringing, where hidden secrets abound. In her former creative life, she is/was a wildlife/scenery artist, specializing in large canvas. "I love painting, but writing is where it's at for me now. It's just a different canvas," she says.
Best known for her vividly written characters and plot twists, Lois/Cait loves to read, play with computers and photography, and admits to owning a runaway herb garden. She also loves to drive and has researched all of her novels on location, including the entire Oregon Trail and Northwest Indian/fur trader/gold trails into Canada. Most recently, she has researched vineyards and lighthouses in the Lake Michigan area and those on the California-Oregon coastline; several books have been set in Montana and Wyoming, also favorite settings. These visits, and research, add a unique flavor to her stories. Her wide variety of interests and bits of her unique family are also incorporated into her books. She incorporates much of her German ancestry into her stories. "One writer put it this way: We sell our family and friends off in pieces," she says.
A USA Today bestseller, Cait/Lois has received several national kudos, including featured alternate in Doubleday and Rhapsody book clubs, and featured selection in romantic suspense in the Mystery Guild book club. Her awards include Holt, Laurel Wreath, RIO (Reviewers International Organization), Bookseller's Best, WRWA Reader's Award for Single Title, Dalton's Bestseller Award, several Romantic Times nominations and awards, including Reviewer's Choice Award. However, her top achievement is being a single mother of her three daughters (three is her lucky number), while she worked a full-time day job and wrote for two publishers.
In addition to writing her novels, Cait presents seminars on writing and speaking on other topics, maintains her extensive Web site and blog; distributes 2-reader e-newsletters, 1 for booksellers/librarians/readers groups, and an e-newsletter for regional writers/librarians/booksellers; she produces her own graphic designs for 4-color promotions, maintains a vast contact with booksellers and readers, and writes articles. She is an active member of several national professional novelist organizations, and is active in writer issues.
Cait/Lois is currently promoting romantic suspense written as Cait London, and other upcoming books, and writing/researching new projects.
