Sydney Thomas may be the newest Rodeo Queen on the circuit, but she's more than just a pretty face and fabulous horseback rider. If only her new boss could see it! But the frustrating, bossy, drop-dead gorgeous man seems bent on pushing her away every chance he gets. Scott Chandler learned at an early age that he needed to "cowboy up" and take care of his family. The one time he let his guard down, his heart got trampled, and he's not about to let that happen again. He knows Sydney's type: rodeo queens who hide their manipulative ways behind good looks, tight jeans, and glittery tiaras. But just as Scott and Sydney are finally realizing there might be more to their fiery relationship than scorching kisses and passionate nights, secrets from their pasts come back to haunt them. Will the cowboy and the Rodeo Queen ever be able to ride off into the sunset together?

Review for Rodeo Queen by T.J. Kline...

I had fallen hard for this cover and T.J.'s story long before I bought the book, but now that I've read it, I am so glad I grabbed it! First of all, I love a good Enemies to Lovers Story and this one brings the battle of the sexes fun to a new high! Sydney is a fiery Rodeo Queen who doesn't take crap from any cowboy; especially a rude, handsome devil like Scott! What she doesn't realize at first is Scott's ex (also a rodeo queen) did a real number on him and he has a hard time trusting her because of it. But he isn't the only one with a scarring past, and when these two finally stop fighting and start talking, you get a wonderful romance that tugs at your heartstrings. I fully recommend this book although be warned, there were several intense scenes and another that...

Final Days of NaNoWriMo – Tips and Tricks

As yet another NaNoWriMo draws to a frantic ending you are probably in one of two camps: right on target, perhaps even ahead of your word count, and wondering how any writer stress in the final days; or you are like the other 99%, staring at how many words you have left and allowing panic […]

What's in a cover?

Ever want to know what it's like to create a cover? T. J. Kline and Tessa Woodward let you in on the process from two points of view - the author and the editor! T. J. Kline : When you spend hours upon hours working at a computer, toiling over the story of two people (with a few additional characters) you tend to begin forming a picture of them in your mind. When you decide that this story is, in fact, going to see the light of day and the eyes of readers, you immediately begin forming a picture in your mind of how the cover of this masterpiece will look. I’ve done it with every story I’ve written, even if they are still in a drawer somewhere, and Rodeo Queen was no exception. The difference with Rodeo Queen was that I wasn’t the only person who had input on...

The Edit Letter...

Today is the day that we finally shed some light on the editorial process! Are you ready for us to pull back the curtain, NaNoWriMoers? By the time I start to write an edit letter, I’ve usually read the manuscript two or three times. The first time through, I’m reading to see if I want to acquire it. The second time through, I attack it with a stack of post-it notes. Every single bag I own seems to have at least one stack if not more of multi-colored mini post-its stuck somewhere on the bottom – I carry them everywhere I go! On the post-its, I scrawl very general notes to myself. These are not meant for public consumption. Often, they’re almost illegible but they help me to remember points and ideas I’ll put into my edit letter. At this point, I make line edits, word changes, and grammar corrections...

NaNoWriMo - Halfway Through The Toughest Month Ever! How Do You Show Your Support For Authors?

Today marks the halfway mark for those participating in National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo to those of us who are participating or have participated in the past. I participated last year and was successful in meeting the goal of writing 50,000 words in 30 days. It’s not an easy exercise but it’s one well worth attempting at least once. I would love to have participated this year but life intervened and the timing was all off but I hope to participate next year. In support of my fellow writers who are participating, I’ve been posting inspiration each day on Facebook – inspiration in the form of gorgeous men. It’s always nice to have something beautiful to look at while struggling to find the words to meet a daily word count goal. My hope is to give my support and perhaps that little push to keep them going, to write...

Acquisition!

Welcome to the second installment of our NaNoWriMo series featuring T. J. Kline and me! Today we're talking about the acquisition process, a.k.a how your book gets from the "slush pile" to my desk. It all started with a call out on AvonRomance and NaNoWriMo. We asked for writers to submit their newly completely NaNoWriMo projects for submission. We were so excited to find a brand new batch of writers. And we got a ton of submissions! I'm not sure that everyone believes me when I tell them, but we actually go in and look at every submission that comes through our website. (Contrary to what the people who write back angry emails think, we're not robots!) Sometimes it might take us a little while, but we get to everything in the end! I probably shouldn't admit this but, in the spirit of transparency, I'll tell you that we received...
