Stealing Harper: Tears, Q&A with author, Tears, links, support group, Tears!

So, the world is all ok. And yet, not ok at all! WHY? Because STEALING HARPER is available for download EVERYWHERE-- well, every place that sells e-books! Have you read it yet? No spoilers here, but um, stuff gets BAD. And tragic. And God, that Chase is even more of a jerk than we thought he was! Sex on the brain, man, that's all he's got. Well, actually ok, so he does really have a soul, but it is a developing soul and one that needs to respect the ladies! Agh, OMG, he's still such a jerk! Yet so hot. Le sigh. And Brandon is just so boring. So despite all the insight you get into Chase's dirty mind in STEALING HARPER, I am still Team Chase all the way. Also I can't stop crying, but I will give too much away if I elaborate, so I'll stop there! Ok,...

Can Writers Protect Themselves From Scams?

Caveat Emptor”; it means “buyer beware”. Scams and rip-offs are nothing new, and writers are not exempt from being targeted, especially eager new writers. I recently read an article on Forbes by Suw Charman-Anderson about this very subject, and I couldn’t help but think of all the ways that people can be taken advantage of in this industry. We’ve all heard about the evils of vanity publishing, which is not to be confused with self-publishing. To my understanding, vanity publishing is where a writer hires a company, for a fee, to publish their work. There is little or no support on behalf of the so-called publisher, no editing, no cover art support, no marketing and promotion. If the writer would like these services, they agree to pay the publisher additional funds for them. On the other hand, self-publishing has gained huge recognition in the publishing industry at large, and has...

Honors and Prayers

First and foremost let’s get to the prayers. If you’ve been listening or watching the news you know about the tornadoes that hit Oklahoma yesterday. It’s so tragic in the fact that lives were lost and homes destroyed. I sat and cried last night and this morning after seeing the devastation. It always affects me more when children are involved. They were so young. Please pray for those precious souls and their parents. Pray for the heroes working diligently to help. Prayer is what they need now. As for honors, I was given a very special honor yesterday. I was asked to be a sponsored author in the July issue Southern Writers Magazine on their Magnolia Corner page. The book that will be spotlighted will be “Rekindled Flame”. I’m really excited about this opportunity. Hopefully this post finds all of you well and safe. As storm season get’s into full...

An eRead: Beauty & The Blacksmith

While waiting for the fireworks to start, which will inevitably mark the end of the Canadian long weekend (fyi, Victoria Day). I wanted to read something short, sweet but cheap (under $3). I looked over to my 'to read' pile and decided on Tessa Dare's latest, The Beauty and The Blacksmith. Diana Highwood can't imagine herself with anybody else except with Spindle Cove's local blacksmith, the strong Mr. Dawes. They couldn't be more of a mismatch but after a forbidden kiss (and then some kisses later) they couldn't care less. Is this simply pure attraction, that may end before it could even really begin? This novella was predictable but overall, it had enough heat for me to not regret the purchase. Tessa Dare even brought her sense of humour, that may or may not involve dirty hands. Since it is a novella, it was a great teaser for her next...

Guest Review: Any Duchess Will Do by Tessa Dare

Judith's review of Any Duchess Will Do  (Spindle Cove #4) by Tessa Dare. What’s a duke to do, when the girl who’s perfectly wrong becomes the woman he can’t live without?  Griffin York, the Duke of Halford, has no desire to wed this season—or any season—but his diabolical mother abducts him to “Spinster Cove” and insists he select a bride from the ladies in residence. Griff decides to teach her a lesson that will end the marriage debate forever. He chooses the serving girl. Overworked and struggling, Pauline Simms doesn’t dream about dukes. All she wants is to hang up her barmaid apron and open a bookshop. That dream becomes a possibility when an arrogant, sinfully attractive duke offers her a small fortune for a week’s employment. Her duties are simple: submit to his mother’s “duchess training”… and fail miserably.  But in London, Pauline isn’t a miserable failure. She’s a...
