Passions of a Wicked Earl by Lorraine Heath Review - There are just some authors that can tug at the old heartstrings and Lorraine Heath is one of the best. In Passions of a Wicked Earl she delivers a novel with one of the most tortured and complex characters, Morgan Lyons, I’ve read in a historical romance book in a while.

Rare Ratings and Recommended Reads

Happy Friday All! I had an unusual day today wherein I didn't have any reviews or interviews scheduled, so I thought I would put together a post that featured some of my recent favorite reads. In four years and over 550 reviews on this blog, I've only given a 5 star rating to 30 books. Apparently, I'm a bit stingy with my praise ;-) Lately though I've come across a number of books that have joined the ranks in my rarest of rating categories, and sometimes my short 3-4 paragraph reviews just don't allow me to say all the things I want to say, so below are a few gushing words about three books that simply blew me away. THE WINTER KING (Available now from Avon) After three long years of war, starkly handsome Wynter Atrialan will have his vengeance on Summerlea's king by taking one of the man's beautiful,...

Review: Susan Elizabeth Phillips' HEROES ARE MY WEAKNESS is a must-read, modern day gothic page turner!

I've really enjoyed Susan Elizabeth Phillips' novels for a long time. My favorite of her books are in her Chicago Stars series (also the first series of hers that I read). To be absolutely honest, I haven't *loved* every book she's written, but most of them. She's one of those writers that even if I find some of the storyline hard going, that I'll continue reading the title. To say I was intrigued by her most recent book, Heroes Are My Weakness, is an understatement. My first glance at the cover, a jean clad, red parka wearing view of a woman, I thought it would be another humorous contemporary. Instead, I found myself swept away by this updated gothic romance set on a remote island off the Maine Coast, that harkens back to my favorite authors growing up - Mary Stewart, Victoria Holt, Phyllis Whitney, Daphne DuMaurier, and Charlotte Bronte....

Every once in a while, something happens that just totally blows your mind, fills your heart, and leaves you absolutely amazed that your dreams are really, truly coming true. That happened to me yesterday, which was already totally awesome because of all the birthday love you all sent my way. But then I learned that Hard As You Can finaled in a big contest for Best Romantic Suspense of 2014. And then I learned that Hard to Hold On To hit #36 on the USA Today Bestseller List. And then I learned that Hard to Hold On To hit #8 – THE TOP TEN – on the New York Times Bestseller List!!!!!! OMG you guys! Not only were #36 and #8 my best list placements ever, but Top 10 is crazy hard to do. And to do it on a novella, and a novella that totally embraces the hero’s race, was just...
