A November Miracle

I’m a December holiday shopper. To all of you who have your lists crossed and checked twice, Christmas cards stamped and waiting to go, all before Thanksgiving…I salute you! I desperately need those precious last weeks before Christmas to scramble around—always swearing I’ll get on the ball sooner next time. (My husband is Jewish and you can imagine what it did to me last year when Hanukkah fell the week after Thanksgiving. Oy.)

So I am sitting smugly at my desk this Monday morning, because this weekend we: bought holiday cards, addressed the envelopes, ordered return address labels, and purchased two Christmas presents. That’s right, and that Thanksgiving turkey has yet to be cooked. Plus, I was hoping you, dear readers, could help me tick a few other items off. For one, my mother has requested “Good books!” this year. I have a handful in mind, including Toni Blake’s HOLLY LANE, to get in the spirit of the season. What will you be giving to a loved one?

Anything Susan Elizabeth Phillips, of course. Love her! But another one I love and my mom does too is Peggy Webb’s Southern Cousins Mysteries. The latest is Elvis and Tropical Double Trouble. Elvis is a basset hound who believes he’s Elvis. LOL!
