An Editor’s Desires

Hello Avonites!

I got a lovely present this weekend after my visit to the San Francisco Area Romance Writers chapter. (Which, by the way, is a lovely chapter! Thank you for the hospitality!) Yes, I am finally the owner of a beautiful iPad.

Of course, I have been playing with it non-stop but I’ve realized that there are not enough Romance Novel related applications. Here’s my wishlist of romance novel apps. And, yes, I realize that these would take more time and money than most people have to make but they would greatly enhance my iPad using pleasure.

1. READ THIS NEXT

Romance Novel suggestions modeled along the Netflix lines. I want someone to tell me what to read based on what books I already like. If I love Toni Blakethen it should tell me to read Lori Wilde next.

2. WHERE DID I READ THAT?

The Smart Bitches, Trashy Books should totally come out with a “Help a Bitch Out” application. That way, you can find out what that book was called — you know, the one about the governess on a boat who dressed up like a boy.

3. MR DARCY READS

I would like an application where Mr. Darcy would read me anything I wanted. Anything from my grocery list to Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, to War and Peace.

4. CHOOSE THINE OWN ADVENTURE

I want a Regency choose your own adventure game. I don’t think there’s any explanation needed.

5. AT THE BALL

(Esi gets credit for this one!) A program that teaches you the steps to all of the complicated historical dances. And then plays the music so you can try them out. And then magically projects a hologram of the perfect dance partner! (What? A girl can dream…)

What about you guys? What would you like to see on as an electronic application?  Do you read electronically? Or are you all paper and glue people?

OTHER DISCUSSIONS HAPPENING IN AUTHORS Romance

I want to see Jack George Edmunson on my e reader. I met him at Chester Waterstones and was overwhelmed by his prescence. Then I read his first book The Sun Sharer and he left my knees trembling in shock. Bring out the e version before the 2nd book so I can troll it round the world.
    Love Franny

Ha! This is a clever post. I hope some Apple developers are lurking on this blog, because the apps you’ve suggested would make a killing. *g*

    Love the post, Tessa!

I want an ipad really bad! And I’d love those app’s you mentioned too. Um, #2 cracked me up! LOL. But hey, the bookstores are doing that–you purchased that book–you might like this one. Great idea! I’m still a die-hard hold-a-book gal, but I’d open up to e-reads more with an iPad.

They all sound like apps that I would want to get for my iPhone or iPad.

I really like #3, although I might suggest another hero-type to add to the mix (to save Mr. Darcy’s voice — LOL). I heard a snippet of Richard Armitage reading some Georgette Heyer audiobooks. *swoon*

I haven’t gotten an e-reader yet — I’m waiting for the dust to settle so I don’t end up with the Betamax of e-readers. I did read an e-book on my laptop the other day and enjoyed the book — but the laptop felt reall heavy by the time I got to The Black Moment!

Well, my first wish would be for an iPad!! Love the app ideas. You should forward your ideas to Apple!

I want an app for my droid that cleans my house. Especially the bird cage and the cat box.

So far, I’m still all paper and glue but I don’t have an e-reader…
