I Never Have Anything To Say

By: Lucia Macro

Honest! I’m often asked why I don’t blog more. The truth is, I haven’t anything to say. For example, I’m not on Facebook.  My life is  pretty boring, and I don’t think my friends need to know every time I move a muscle, which isn’t often. (For example, I haven’t been inside a gym since high school, and that was a long, long time ago.)

I’ve been going crazy all morning, trying to figure out what I’m supposed to be talking about all week. It hasn’t been easy.

So with that in mind, here’s what I’m gonna do for you. I’m willing to field a question a day–anything that’s work or industry related.  I’ll answer once(randomly selected, I promise!) from now until Friday. I won’t answer queries, but if there is anything else you’ve just got to know about, fire away.

I’ll check back in at the end of today to answer the first question–if there are any!

    Lucia -

Since your used to editing do you ever find yourself “editing” yourself subconciusly while talking to someone either in content or how you phrase something and if you do is it ususally when your on the phone, emailing or in person?

Hmmm. I think you’re asking if I try to phrase things with more panache, editing myself as if I’m editing for work. Well, the answer is I wish! And, if you ask my sisters , well, they will just roll their eyes. They know that I am the worst verbal self-editor of all time.

Of course, it’s better when I write, because I can go back in and change things. Thank goodness for email!

With all the incredible popularity in historical novels, often told in 1st person POV, do you think historical romance will ever be open to a first person narrator?

I can never tell what the future will bring! I do think many enjoy third person because it allows them to see into the hearts and minds of both the hero and heroine. How fun is that? That said, I’ve made no secret that I personally like a strong first person narrative.

I feel the same way! I prefer to blog about concrete thoughts and ideas and information, rather than sharing things about my life. Sometimes, I just write a blog post and just save it as a draft because it was for my own consumption and catharsis.

As for a question…hmm…is there any romance novel not published by Avon, which you loved and wished you edited?
