Seen and Heard at RWA
August 10, 2010
Seen and heard at RWA. Some random notes from Orlando.
Well, first off Executive Editor Lucia Macro was not at RWA this year, and we all missed her.
New author Juliana Stone was seen singing Karaoke. Song? Don’t Stop Believing.
I saw male readers this year, including one asking for Sarah MacLean’s autograph at the Literacy signing.
Tessa Woodward spent her birthday at RWA. What is more fun than spending the morning at a character breakfast and having chocolate chips spell out “Happy Birthday?”
One new development: the year readers were asking authors to sign their Kindles. Susan Elizabeth Phillips fielded a lot of these requests.
At the Avon party, the male members of the staff wore pirate hats and the females wore tiaras. See Meg Cabot’s blog yesterday for proof.
And I might (might) have been trapped in my fancy cocktail dress, necessitating help from a (female) agent late at night.

I was so surprised by the men who approached me at both signings…but happy to see that there are men who think Romance is worth a read! (The women in their lives are pretty lucky, I’m guessing!)

Indeed, Sarah, I would love nothing better than to get my husband to let me read to him … just think of the wonderful possibilities that might arise from that … no pun intended or maybe there was. ; )

Miranda Neville shared pictures of the Avon party with a pirate hat being passed around, it looked like such fun!
Carrie, we might (might) be curious to know how you got trapped in your fancy cocktail dress and did anything end up getting torn in the escape? I can only imagine it was a nasty zipper!! Of course, the story might have been more juicy had it been a male agent who helped you out! Oh, what fun could come from that scenario!! : )
