If a woman is to marry, she must have a dowry and a groom of her own. If a romance novel reader is to have the latest “smash”, “enchanting” and “zany historical” she must have A Groom Of One’s Own. It’s the first novel is the NEW Writing Girl romance series—think Sex And The City, Regency-style. Without further ado, here are some essential things to know about A Groom of One’s Own:

1. The hero, Duke of Hamilton and Brandon (a double duke!) likes to make lists. For example: A List of Desirable Qualities In A Wife.

2. The heroine, Miss Sophie Harlow, doesn’t exactly fulfill his desired qualities in a wife.

3. His Grace is betrothed to Lady Clarissa, daughter of the Duke of Richmond. She’s perfect. The ton is calling it “The Wedding of The Year.”

4. Sophie writes a column in the popular newspaper, The London Weekly. It’s called Miss Harlow’s Marriage In High Life. She’s reporting on The Wedding of the Year.

5. Sophie hates weddings.

6. His Grace spends more time thinking about the scandalous Miss Harlow instead of the perfect Lady Clarissa.

7. Sophie is falling in love with His Grace.

8. A dashing, foreign prince arrives. Scandal ensues.

9. His Grace learns of a great secret.

10.   No one is jilted at the altar, no one dies, and there are no jaunts to Gretna Green and yet…

11.  They all live happily-ever-after.
