Day #5: Grand Finale of Gaelen Foley's "Guys As Gifts" Week

By: GaelenFoley
June 25, 2010

And so we arrive at the big finale of our weeklong celebration of Christmas-in-July at Avon Books, celebrating great summer reads. What fun it’s been!

There’s still one more day left to win, and today’s prize is a signed Advanced Reading Copy (ARC) of MY DANGEROUS DUKE. (These are very rare! The book doesn’t even go on sale until TUESDAY of next week—June 29! Squeee! I’m so excited!)

The premise of MY DANGEROUS DUKE is what inspired me to ask readers and some of my fellow authors who they’d want if they got a hot guy for a gift. This is because the warrior hero, uber-alpha male Rohan, the Duke of Warrington, is given a gift of our spunky heroine, Kate. (Check out the video above or read an excerpt here!)

So, you’ve got the gist of this game by now, I’m sure:

If someone gave YOU a hottie of the opposite sex, who would you want to be given, and what’s the first thing you’d make him do?

Leave us your answer below and you’ll be automatically entered in the drawing for the signed ARC of MY DANGEROUS DUKE.

And now…for our special guests today! I promised you guys a surprise, and here they are! Publishing people!

LOL, yes, they’re people, too, fair reader. But you already know from reading this blog what a lovely and intelligent group of women run Avon Books.

First give a round of applause for Publicity Department maven, Christine Maddalena, ((((applause!))) without whom this Pre-Launch event would not have been possible.

Christine, thanks for all your help organizing this week! So, tell us who you want Santa to leave in your stocking for Christmas in July?

Christine: Hands down, without a second thought, I’d ask for Ethan Hawke. (Think early 90s, circa Reality Bites, before he married his nanny.) He would take me on a loooong vacation to Barcelona and we’d lay out on a beautiful, perfect, beach together.  He’d read me his favorite poetry (which is TS Elliot. Don’t ask how I know) and write me love songs and play with my hair. Sighhhhh. Fun times :)

Gaelen: Ah, a woman who definitely knows what she wants!! LOL. True, he is adorable. Thank you, Christine. J

Next up, one of Avon’s star romance editors!!! Welcome, the one and only Esi Sogah! You got to meet some of Esi’s authors earlier this week. Esi, you obviously have great taste in books, and with all the dreamy heroes your authors create, I’m guessing you have excellent taste in man candy, too. *g* (Sorry for that term, but someone used it here the other day and I think it’s hilarious. Why did I never hear this before? I must have been in Regency-Land.)

So, what’s your poison?

Esi: Hmm. Well, since I just introduced my roommate to Doctor Who and therefore found myself watching episodes over, I’d have to pick Christopher Eccleston. I’d probably make him fix something, since that’s what the Ninth Doctor seems to do best and it would have the added benefit of making him bend over a lot. ;) BUT I’ve just finally starting watching Buffy, so this could change very soon!

Gaelen: Oh, yeah, he is definitely Mr. Charisma! Thanks, Esi!

And now, everybody, I’d like to introduce…drumroll…my agent, Nancy Yost! She’s the Yost with the Most. *g* Nancy, you represent so many fabulous authors in romance (and other genres) that I know that you, like Esi, must have a clear idea of what sort of guy you want Santa to bring you.

What do you think?

Nancy: Oh, these posts are so…inspiring, yes, that’s what I’ll call it.

Well, I have to say I’m a sucker for accents and guys who look like they’ve amassed a bit of experience (that’s what I’m calling it), so, in no particular order:

Javier Bardem (NOT the bad haircut moment, please!)

Julian Sands (in A Room With A View)

Jude Law in The Talented Mr. who??– it was all about the glorious Dickie Betts, dorky name notwithstanding

Daniel Day Lewis in Last of the Mohicans– come on, now, you know he was looking at you, Miss!

Then there’s Damian Lewis  Is he a geek or a stud?  who cares?!

And there’s the ultimate cheezoid fantasy, Rutger Hauer in LadyHawke, possibly Blade Runner, and maybe a a little in NIghtHawks…)

Ready for a little walk on the freaky side?  Paul Bettany

Alan Rickman as the Sheriff of Notkevincostnerham, see R. Hauer, above.

And finally, will someone just tell Hugh Grant to embrace his dark side; we know you, Hugh–it’s time.

Wait! I seem to have amassed a harem here. As to what I’d do with my man-posse Well, maybe they can alphabetize my overloaded bookshelf in their spare time….

Gaelen: A man harem!!! WOW. You go, girl. They really do think big in New York, LOL. Dittos on all of the above. I think by this time in the week, we’ve left no man-stone unturned. (Heh, get it?)

Can I just agree with you that Paul Bettany is great. He certainly gave me a whole new appreciation for Chaucer when he was walking down the road naked in A Knight’s Tale (or whatever it was called). And you’re so right, Hugh Grant does need to quit pretending he’s the perfect gentleman. Come on, Hugh, nobody’s buying it. Let your freak flag fly, my brother! *g*

Well, readers, it’s your last chance to join in! For the last time (sniff!):

If someone gave you a hottie of the opposite sex, who would you want to be given, and what’s the first thing you’d make him do?

(And we’re trying to keep it clean, ladies! Also: Husbands and boyfriends don’t count. We all know they’re our real heroes.)

Thanks so much for joining in. I hope you’ve had as much fun this week as all of us here have had. It’s been a great kick off to the summer, methinks, and a nice little break from everyday life.

Remember, the new crop of July books goes on sale this coming Tuesday, June 29!

(My Dangerous Duke sightings and shelf reports are welcome!) If you pick it up and give it a read, I’d love to hear  from you. You can write to me any time thru my website at www.GaelenFoley.com and register there for more fun events, e-newsletter, etc. In the meantime…

Enjoy!

Gaelen, Check it out on Amazon. I have Heyer’s Sylvester on CD being read by Richard Armitage. SWOON!

  • misskallie2000 says: June 26, 2010 at 8:23 pm

I am telling my age but Elvis in his prime would be my choice. I still get a thrill when I listen to his music or watch his videos.. Hunka, hunka love..lol..The first thing I would ask him to do is sing me a love song..sigh.

Or Rock Hudson in all his movies but loved his tv show McMillan and Wife. Just love to hear him talk.

    Congrats on your new release.

Have not read any of your books Gaelen but have you on my new author list and My Dangerous Duke on my wish list.

Thanks for the great opportunity to enter.

  • christine ly says: June 26, 2010 at 12:59 pm

How do you know when you win something, Gaelen?

    • Gaelen Foley says: June 26, 2010 at 3:33 pm

      Excellent question!

Christine M will contact the winner on Monday morning when she comes back to work after the weekend. So, anyone who makes a comment over the weekend will still be eligible!

      Thanks for participating!

      Gaelen :)

  • LouisaCornell says: June 25, 2010 at 9:32 pm

LOVE your books Gaelen and can’t wait for this latest one! LOVE me an alpha male. Goodness, Esi’s harem is to die for, isn’t it?

I’d have to say if you were going to GIVE me a man as a gift it would have to be Richard Armitage! Sigh. North and South, ladies, the kiss in the train station. Need I say more?

And the FIRST thing I would have him do is read to me. Ever heard him read Georgette Heyer? Talk about a bedroom eyes? That man has got a bedroom voice that can tuck me in ANY TIME! As we Southern girls say “He can eat crackers in my bed ANYTIME!”

    • Gaelen Foley says: June 26, 2010 at 3:32 pm

Thank you, Louisa! So glad to hear you’ve enjoyed my books. Music to my ears!

Richard Armitage reads Georgette Heyer?? For real?? Don’t tease me like that…too cruel!
      :P

  • Kammie says: June 25, 2010 at 9:06 pm

ooh, Daniel Day Lewis, I like him! He’s hot and he doesn’t have to go very far. I’m here. He can find me right here. hahaha! I’m a bit ashamed to admit how many times I’ve watched Last of the Mohicans.

The first thing I’d ask him to do is take off his buckskins. It’s way to warm in my house for that type of clothing and I suspect it’s about to get even warmer.

  • Anna Shah Hoque says: June 25, 2010 at 8:59 pm

    Hi Gaelen,
This has been a fantastic week…loved all the wicked eye candy…the entertaining posts. Most of all, I’m glad I’ve had the chance to get acquainted with you…I bought a couple of books of yours to get started on your work : One Night of Sin, His Wicked Kiss, Devil Takes A Bride, Lady of Desire…I’m missing the other two in the Knights series & will be getting them soon.

As for my pick for today…I’ve gotta go with Hugh Jackman *sigh* The first thing I’d ask him to do…a little bit of fun floor wrestling would be good.

Congratulations on your upcoming release. I wish you lots of sales.

    *hugs*

  • runner10 says: June 25, 2010 at 8:16 pm

I pick George Clooney. I would want a tour of his next movie set.

  • Pat Cochran says: June 25, 2010 at 7:39 pm

Thanks, Gaelen, for all the fun this week and all the fine
photos of all the fine young men. I had to laugh at the
fact that you were not familiar with the “candy” reference.
As well as the previously noted “man candy”, there’s also
    “arm candy” and “eye candy”!

    Congratulations on the soon-to-be-released “My
    Dangerous Duke.”

    Pat Cochran

    • Gaelen Foley says: June 26, 2010 at 3:36 pm

LOL, Pat, I had heard of eye candy and arm candy but just not “man candy.” (Kind of like hard candy?) – I can’t believe I just said that… don’t tell my mom.

LOL. I think Im losing it! Must be the summer heat or something…!

Thanks for all the fun this week. You know…why not??

  • Penney Wilfort says: June 25, 2010 at 7:05 pm

I will go with Alan Rickman I love most all of his movies.
Great Blog this week thank you

  • Cy says: June 25, 2010 at 5:56 pm

I want to say congratz to you too, Gaelen on your book release! I know it will be a special one, as it is coming out on my mom’s birthday! Maybe I need to get a copy for her too!! :)

    • Gaelen Foley says: June 26, 2010 at 3:37 pm

Ooo, nice! If you email me your or her snail mail address, I will make a Happy Birthday bookplate sticker out to her if you want. Just drop me a line!

Thanks again & glad you had fun!

      Gaelen :)

  • donna ann says: June 25, 2010 at 5:49 pm

Gaelen — don’t want to forget to say congrats on the new release, I can’t wait to read it and thanks for the week long party, it’s been a hoot :)

Today I’m thinking Alton Brown from Good Eats — cute in nerdy sort a way, but think it would be blast to have him do the cooking (not to mention yummy). Though Santa could aways drop your hero under my tree too — Rohan sounds like a great catch :)

  • Pat Cochran says: June 25, 2010 at 5:33 pm

I’ve thought and thought and , although David Boreanaz
remains my #1 favorite, there are a few favorites from
days past and from today. There’s David McCallum from
the U.N.C.L.E. days, Adrian Paul, David James Elliott, Mark Harmon, Tim McKay, and Damian Lewis. Then there’s my
favorite NFL running back from waaaay back in the day!

    Pat Cochran

  • Gaelen Foley says: June 25, 2010 at 4:41 pm

People may still be drifting in over the evening but I wanted to say a warm thank you once again to Christine M and everyone who helps behind the scenes at the Avon blog and to the authors and today’s publishing guests who chimed in with their oh-so-creative answers to this burning question, and most of all, THANK YOU to all the romance readers who stopped by to join in the fun.

I’ll have to think up another good one for my next book in April so we can all hang out together again because this was such a blast. Thanks for hanging out with me and all of us this week!

Have a wonderful (hot!) summer. ;)

Agree on Adrian Paul and Daniel Day Lewis, make my hunk list.

Another sexy guy – Mark Valley, star of Human Target and Keen Eddie. I like his quirkiness. Keen Eddie he was a quirky nerd, and appealing. On Human Target, he’s both quirky but with a dangerous edge, you can see it in his eyes–dare me, I’ll do it.

  • Christy G. says: June 25, 2010 at 3:55 pm

I think he was mentioned on a previous day, but I will have to mention him again. Mr. Richard Armitage is my latest dream-man crush. After seeing him in “North and South,” I was hooked. Although I think he was even more delicious in “The Vicar of Dibley: A Holy Wholly Happy Ending,” where he played the ridiculously gorgeous accountant, Harry, who sweeps the vicar off her feet.

What would I make him do? Hmmm. So many things spring to mind! Although I found him on a You Tube clip reading bedtime stories as part of a BBC Cbeebies Bedtime Story, and I fancy a story read, just to me, in his warm, northern English accent.

  • Jane says: June 25, 2010 at 3:25 pm

Today I’m going to wish for Lucas Bryant. He’s one of the leads in the new SyFy series “Haven.” He’s got beautiful eyes.

  • Joder says: June 25, 2010 at 2:51 pm

If we’re talking Doctor’s we better include David Tennant. Oh so cute and a wonderful Scottish accent.

  • catslady says: June 25, 2010 at 2:30 pm

My last choice would be Hugh Jackman – he can be sweet and naughty and sexy and just about anything!!!

  • Debra Key Newhouse says: June 25, 2010 at 2:18 pm

I always have to go with Robert Downey Jr. He’s such a fantastic actor and the hottest thing around. Iron Man, Sherlock Holmes, Restoration, Chaplin and going back to one of my earliest favorites, Heart and Souls. He’s brilliant and beautiful.

I want him in my stocking…and in so many other places *sigh* Wait. That didn’t sound right. Wait! Yes it did! lol

Congratulations Gaelen! Life is good, eh?

  • Larena Wirum says: June 25, 2010 at 1:40 pm

I loved Paul Bettany in A Knight’s Tale. I really loved his line that he give the truth scope. LOL :-)

I would still have to go with Hugh Jackman and I could come up with things for him to do around my place especially if it involved him going shirtless. :-)

Congrats Gaelen on your upcoming release. :-)

  • Scorpio M. says: June 25, 2010 at 1:32 pm

Of current actors, I like Ryan Reynolds. He’s cute, funny &has a hot bod!

  • Anna Campbell says: June 25, 2010 at 1:23 pm

Wow, what a great turn up! Waving madly at my Avon friends and Nancy! Waving madly while I steal away your choices and lock them in my basement, bwahahahahaha!!!! What a delicious selection!

Gaelen, what a wonderful party we’ve had here all week. Thanks for inviting me to be part of it. It’s been great fun! I hope you sell a gazillion of MY DANGEROUS DUKE!!! It sounds like a corker of a read!

  • Josie says: June 25, 2010 at 1:15 pm

Well since a few of you ladies have mentioned Mark Harmon, it got me thinking about his co-worker, Michael Weatherly. I have to add him to my list. I started watching NCIS because of him. If he was another one of my presents, I’d want him to tell me jokes and make me laugh. Just as long as he kept on smiling ;0)

  • CrystalGB says: June 25, 2010 at 1:10 pm

I would say Johnny Depp. I would love to just have a conversation with him. Love his voice.

  • Barbara Elness says: June 25, 2010 at 12:49 pm

I’d pick Eric Dane – I’d have him lie around by the pool with me and apply my suntan lotion.

  • Kim in Hawaii says: June 25, 2010 at 12:45 pm

20 years ago, I would have said Jean Claude Van Damme – the Muscles from Brussels.

10 years ago, I would have said Ewan McGregor from Star Wars Episodes 1-3

But now I am fascinated by Henry Cavil from Showtimes’ The Tudors. Despite “aging” over the past four seasons, he is still hot!

A Big Mahalo, Gaelen, for a fun week! Looking forward to meeting you (and hearing you) at the Beau Monde Conference in advance of the RWA National Convention!

And a 21 gun salute, Gaelen, for your support of military families!

  • Carol Boutin says: June 25, 2010 at 12:44 pm

I’ve read alot about the man candy this week. I’d go with Hugh Jackman (Australia, the movie was terrific). George Clooney is definitely up there(molto bene). Kevin Costner (please let that gizmo work in the Gulf) for his eyes and he can guard my body anytime. Ty Hardin (look him up ladies) in his hey-day as a cowboy on TV’s Bronco. He was my pre-teenage crush. AND last but not least, Colin Firth. I just love him in anything. But the wet shirt in P&P was fantabulous. I’d just like them to talk to me, or sing, or just be there.

Hope your book is off the charts next week, Galen. I plan to be at the store on Tuesday when they take them out of the boxes. LOL!!!

    • Gaelen Foley says: June 25, 2010 at 2:03 pm

Carol, thank you so much!! I hope you like the story.

I heard from one advance reviewer who said she read it in 4 hours (it’s over 120K words/600 pp in manuscript form) so that is fast! She said she couldn’t put it down and I said, from your mouth to God’s ears!

I hope everybody–well, the majority of people–like it. I’ve finally gotten it thru my head that I can’t please “everybody,” LOL, much as I wish that were possible.

At any rate, glad you’ve had fun this week, I sure have!
It’s been most educational, too. lol. I had never heard of a lot of these lovely guys.

    Gaelen -

This has been an amazing week with your pre-book launch blog, you are wonderful host. I can’t wait for Tuesday when everyone gets to read the book and realizes as I do via the ARC that I received how amazing this book is. Everyone should pre-order online or make sure their book stores will have it stocked and insist they have multiple copies.

I am going to show my age here but I love Bruce Campbell from Burn Notice. He is not a flashy star or even a great hero but every week I watch the show to see him in action more than Jeffery Donovan if you can believe that!

    • Gaelen Foley says: June 25, 2010 at 2:07 pm

Oh, he’s a cutie, Mary! I agree. He’s got a devilish twinkle in his eyes. :)

Thanks for coming over, Mary. I saw your review of MY DANGEROUS DUKE and think I may scan it onto a T-shirt so I can wear it on my person for the rest of my life. Thank you for liking/loving my book!!! :P

    BTW…

I haven’t noticed anyone mentioning BRADLEY COOPER. He’s not on my top 5 but everyone else I know adores him.

Figured I’d throw that one in there since he’s at least worth mentioning :) ( and reminding you ladies about)

  • Amy Valentini says: June 25, 2010 at 11:51 am

End of a great week of fun and fantasizing, thank you Gaelen and Christine! I’ve been thinking about those wonderful guys who made a great splash once or twice but seem to have been forgotten … I’ve always had a thing for moustaches and so looked in that direction. If I had to narrow it, I’d be glad to find either Robert Redford from “Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid” or any of his movies or Tom Selleck or – fanning myself again – Tom Berenger circa “Big Chill” or “Last of the Dogmen” …. yummmmm! I would want any or all of them to take me for ride on a horse or whatever!

Thanks again for a fun-filled week. I love Romance Blog by Avon … it’s the best on the Web! <3

    • Amy Valentini says: June 25, 2010 at 11:55 am

Ladies, ever been on the receiving end of a truly romantic line or greatest first “I love you”? Then check out Lyssa Keusch’s “Romantic Lines … sigh” blog on the HOME page. The fun continues … <3

  • Lois M. says: June 25, 2010 at 11:26 am

Since I went with Jon Stewart yesterday, gotta go with Steven Colbert today. Don’t want him to feel left out. . . :) And he can come dressed in his astronaut suit. :)

  • Gina Leuci says: June 25, 2010 at 11:19 am

What a fun concept. Do I have to pick just one? Can I have a man harem like Nancy? First I’d say Adrian Paul from the Highlander. Man, can he wield a sword (keep it clean ladies). There is also Shemar Moore from Criminal Minds who takes my breath away just looking at him. Matthew McConaughey with his southern charm. Christian Kane (Leverage) could rock my world. Oh, there are just too many. Maybe there should be a Man of the Month Club.

  • cheryl c. says: June 25, 2010 at 10:40 am

Oh boy, my last entry to my hottie wish list is…Hugh Jackman! He sings, he dances, he fights, he acts, and he looks hot on the beach! I would walk along the beach with him as other women look on with envy. (I am totally pretending that he is not married. This is a fantasy, after all. LOL)

  • Cy says: June 25, 2010 at 10:32 am

Today’s pick Russian fashion model, Vladimir Ivanov. See I figure if I pick models while everyone is picking actors, I don’t have to share so much! haha :)

  • Caroline Linden says: June 25, 2010 at 10:23 am

OK, if we can get a man from any time period, bring me Clark Gable as Rhett Butler. I’d trample Scarlett O’Hara, all the Wilkses, and even Belle Watling for that man, with his wicked little smile and too-assured laugh and those jaded yet soulful eyes…

  • Liz says: June 25, 2010 at 10:07 am

I am thinking Jude Law in The Holiday. Liked him as a Dad.

And I would have him… paint my house. I would watch from a lawn chair with some iced tea. And who knows what would happen after I asked him to stay for dinner?

    Signed ARC has me salivating!

Totally love Paul Bettany as a pick. He is so sexxy. He was in legion too, right? If he is the actor from legion, than it’s double sexxy! That guy was spicy! Tabasco sexxy.

Top honorary picks:(The Grey’s Anatomy boys)
    Patrick Dempsey and Kevin McKidd
Eric Dane and that newbie Jesse James (not sandy bullock cheater)……all of them will send me straight to the hospital ;)

first thing they’d do: Play doctor with me (hope that isn’t too inappropriate, but I couldn’t help it)

But my Official Final Pick: The late, great Patrick Swazey (circa The Outsiders)..he and Rob Lowe(soda pop, great name) were just delicious in that movie. But Patrick as Darrel was amazing!

first thing he’s gotta do: …is it any secret with me anymore?? TAKE THAT SHIRT OFF!!

thanks for hosting an amazing event. I don’t usually indulge in these sorta things, but this has been great. All the best Gaelen! <3

Umm. Viggo Mortensen in LOTR. Mmmm. Hugh Jackman – as anything. Mmmmm. From high school days – remember how cute Matthew Broderick was in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (and in GLory)? And while we’re back there in time – Aidan Quinn. Did anyone else have a stupid crush on Bruce Boxleitner in Scarecrow & Mrs. King? (Now you all know how old I am)

Gerard Butler is a new yummy objet de desire…as is Ryan Reynolds. He’s kind of vanilla – but OH those eyes…

The man I would want would be…
    Drumroll please………….
Orlando Bloom circa Pirates of the Carribean.
    He really shivered me timbers!
I don’t care what he did, as long as he spoke to me in his sexy accent all day.

Well, every woman wants a Prince Charming…

So today, I’d have to say that although HRHs Prince William & Prince Harry are pretty cute, they’re not really my cup of tea.

I’m more for the the dark hair, dark eyed, delicious Prince of Sweden…

    HRH PRINCE CARL PHILIP.

Alright, ladies, look him up and tell me he doesn’t look a little, maybe a lot like Orlando Bloom. So it’s like Orlando Bloom+Royal Swedish Blood= PRINCE CARL PHILIP.

And of course, what to do with a Prince but have him rescue you ad take you to a royal ball, think Cinderella ladies. :)

    • Gaelen Foley says: June 25, 2010 at 11:47 am

Isn’t he the equivalent of a Navy SEAL, too? Warrior prince. :::thunk:::: that’s me hitting the floor as I swoon…

I could have the wrong Continental royal family on that, but I think I’m right.

Who’s the one that married a waitress a few years ago? Hey, I waited tables for a long time as a starving artist while trying to sell my first book, so that little fairytale definitely got my applause.

      Great choice, Christine!!!
      :)
      Gaelen
MY DANGEROUS DUKE – on sale Tuesday!

      • Christine T. L. says: June 25, 2010 at 11:58 am

I know he’s a Lieutenant in their Navy but I’m not sure what role he plays besides that. The only catch is he’s dating some scandalous model/actress. It’s alright, I’m not losing faith, my Prince Charming is on his way, he just took a wrong turn is all. HA HA.

And it was a Dubai prince I think, that married the waitress. Very young girl too I think. Classic Cinderella story, don’t you think?

Ok, so I’ve decided that I’m going to stick with my original answer. Chris Capaldi’s my man! And with that, I’m heading back to the beach so I can watch Chris emerge from the ocean with his hair slicked back and his bronze body dripping wet. Then I’ll have him take me into his arms and place a passionate kiss upon my lips. (((sigh))) Yep, that’s my Christmas in July wish! LOL

This week has been a blast! Your posts have been so much fun Gaelen! I look forward to more in the future!

    Merry Christmas in July everyone!

    Haunts and kisses!
    Annie

Annie, I’m so glad you hung out with us this week and that you enjoyed yourself! I sure did.

Gaelen, off to google this Chris fellow you mentioned

Wes Studi (Magua in “Last of the Mohicans”)
I’d ask him to teach me his language.

  • Katharine Ashe says: June 25, 2010 at 9:17 am

May I share your stocking, Melanie? John Cusack is my all-time favorite. :)

Australia beckons. Hugh Jackman. Big sweet hunk of man with lots of talent and charm. Bryan Brown. The Thorn Birds, Cocktail, FX, Breaker Morant, Gorillas in the Mist. Brawny, rugged, witty, charming, easy-going Aussie. I loved him best as “Joe” in “A Town Like Alice”, based on the book by Nevil Shute. This is such a powerful, beautiful story. You must read the book, and see Bryan in this film. Rod Taylor. I have always thought he was gorgeous, a “hunky” leading man. More than that, there’s something in his face that made me like him. Aussie likability. His film, “Fate is the Hunter”, is one of my favorites. Speaking of gorgeous, Sam Neill hails from New Zealand. Sam is a very talented actor with a wonderful voice and beautiful green eyes. He actually bears a striking resemblance to my handsome grandfather and great-grandfather and the other males in that branch of my family : )

Hi, Gaelen! This is such fun! I love presents. :)

Nice choices, ladies. I’ll take Daniel Day Lewis any day. And Rutger Hauer in his Ladyhawke incarnation… deeeelish!

But for my gift I would ask for Bollywood hunk Arjun Rampal, especially in his first few films. What would I ask him to do? Smile. At me. Oh my gosh, my heart’s fluttering just imagining it!

  • Esi says: June 25, 2010 at 9:12 am

Javier Bardem….oh my. Which leads me to thinking about Gael Garcia Bernal. And that’s too much hotness for a day like today.

  • Nancy says: June 25, 2010 at 9:11 am

Alan Rickman or the man who played Captain Wentworth in a previous film of Jane Austen’s Persuasion. HIs initials are C.H but I can’t spell it.
I do not know many of the actors as I don’t watch much TV or many movies. Gregory Peck and Mel Gibson of some movies I did watch.
I think I like Gregory peck the best when he was living, of course.

  • Rachel Firasek says: June 25, 2010 at 9:08 am

Definitely, Gerard Butler, he just gets better with age. I would have him wear a kilt and sing to me. So hot.

  • Sherry says: June 25, 2010 at 9:03 am

I’m all for Alan RIckman. Yep! I’ll take that.

  • Bev says: June 25, 2010 at 8:54 am

OMG, The Talented Mr. Ripley is one of my favourites movies EVAH!!! I remember seeing the commercial and seeing Jude Law and literally being struck dumb. And I’m usually all about tall, dark and handsome. I wanted to watch that movie for him alone. Sigh.

  • Taylor says: June 25, 2010 at 8:49 am

Today, I would have to say Corey Montieth from Glee and I would just make him smile at me and sing a little.

  • Dee says: June 25, 2010 at 8:40 am

    Final request day….well…

I’m going with Nathan Fillion from Castle. Yes, I had him on standby on day 1 or 2 but there is just something sexy about a mix of boyish charm and snarky sarcasm. He could read to me or I can help him “rehearse” his Castle episodes.

  • Gaelen Foley says: June 25, 2010 at 8:39 am

Aw, yeah. :) He’s got a sweet expression, doesn’t he? Those big brown eyes. (I think they’re brown?)

    Thanks for coming by, Melanie!
    :)
    Gaelen

  • Melanie S says: June 25, 2010 at 8:09 am

I have always had a thing for John Cusack, so on our final request day I ask for him to be in my stocking.
