Day 2: Gaelen Foley Talks "Guys As Gifts" (It's Christmas In July!)

Welcome back to Day 2 of Avon’s “Christmas in July” as we celebrate great summer romance reading with a raffle each day this week for all participants who tell us what famous male celeb(s) you want Santa to leave in your stocking!

In my July release, MY DANGEROUS DUKE, the hero, Rohan, the Duke of Warrington, is given the heroine, extra-spunky Kate, as a gift (See video to the left of your screen, dear reader!). But this story premise that got me wondering who I would want as a gift if someone were to give me a present like this …and I thought it would be funny to ask readers and some of my author friends, too! So, tell me, girls:

If someone were to give you a hottie of the opposite sex, who would you want to be given, and what’s the first thing you’d make him do, hmm?

Everyone was so well behaved yesterday it was amazing, LOL. (If you missed yesterday’s discussion, it’s still available here.) We are doing our best to keep it PG-13. And of course, husbands and boyfriends don’t count. *g*

So today, we have 3 more wonderful summer Avon authors we’ll hear from, and don’t forget, all participants who leave their answer below will be automatically registered to win a signed copy of one of the following yummy romances:

Captive of Sin by Anna Campbell

To Ruin the Duke by Deb Mullins

A Groom of One’s Own by Maya Rodale

First up…Anna Campbell! Welcome to our illustrious Aussie friend. Anna’s known for lush, darker-toned Regency Historicals that are just delish. Her June release, MY RECKLESS SURRENDER, is still freshly on the shelves everywhere out there in bookland! In fact you can read an excerpt HERE.

So, what do you think, Anna? Who’s your pick?

Anna: Ah, the lovely fantasies your question arouses, Gaelen (with the emphasis on AROUSES!). After much deliberation (oh, all right, 30 seconds of drooling), I’ve decided I want Richard Armitage in his John Thornton persona from NORTH AND SOUTH, the BBC adaptation of the Elizabeth Gaskell novel. Yum (Campbell, wipe that drool off your chin, you’re frightening the horses). I want him to meet me at a railway station halfway between Milton and Helston and give me a yellow rose and kiss me like he’d die if he didn’t and… Oh, right, that’s been done. Back to ye olde Victorian drawing board!

Gaelen: Yep, you’re a hopeless romantic, all right, my dear. *g* Nicely done!

Next up is an author I’ve been known for ages…say hello to my oh-so-talented friend and fellow Avon author, Debra Mullins!!! (((Applause, applause))). Deb’s latest, TEMPTING A PROPER LADY, is a June release and features her trademark humorous style and dry wit (as is definitely evident in her answers below!). TEMPTING A PROPER LADY is set in the Victorian period and kicks off her enticing Brides of Nevarton Chase Trilogy.

(Check out an excerpt HERE!). So, who’s it going to be, Deb?

Debra: I have a list! In the old tradition of wine, (men) and song:

Wine: Gordon Ramsey – I’d have him cook for me, maybe some of that mushroom risotto he serves in his restaurant with some seafood dish involving a white wine sauce…yum!

Men: Mark Harmon – Leroy Jethro Gibbs. ‘Nuff said. He would be my dinner date.

Song – Hugh Jackman. Not only does he look good, but the man can sing. He’d be the evening’s entertainment while I ate Gordon’s food with Mark. I’d put him in one of those Chippendale outfits with the tight black pants, no shirt and bowtie.

Gaelen: Bravo! Wow, I see you’ve got all your bases covered here. *g* You’re know you’re in good shape when even the chef is rather a tasty morsel! Ha, ha.

Now everybody, up next, I’d like to present a new author (and soon-to-be newlywed!) to you. Please say hi to Maya Rodale, whose July release, A GROOM OF HER OWN, is getting all sorts of great buzz. Maya is definitely a writer to watch!

That’s such a pretty and romantic cover, Maya. :) I know some lucky winner is going to be thrilled to win your new book. You guys can take a sneak peek at Maya’s book HERE!

So, what do you think, Maya? Who do you want for a present and what are you gonna make ’em do?

Maya: If I had a hottie of the opposite sex…I already do! He’s great for dishes, kisses and reaching things on high shelves (among other things). BUT since husbands and boyfriends don’t count for this, then I would love to get Farm Boy/Wesley (is that his name?) from The Princess Bride for a little bit of adventure!

Gaelen: Aw, The Princess Bride!!! Everybody loves that movie. Even guys enjoy it. A lovely pick. “As you wish,” milady! :)

Ok, readers, now it’s your turn!

It’s Christmas in July—Who do you want Santa to leave in your stocking and what’s the first thing you’d make him do?

Leave your answer below and you’ll be automatically entered in the raffle for the day’s book giveaways!

Enjoy…
