Beginning of Spring

This Saturday marked the first day of spring—and let me tell you, it sure felt like it. Temperatures were even summer-like! Here are the three things I love most about this season…and three things I don’t like so much.

My most favorite things:

1) Warmer weather.  After all the bad weather we’ve been through this winter (threat of snowpocalypse, real snowpocalypse, torrential downpour), we deserve it!

2) Start of baseball season.  There’s a hardware store in my neighborhood that has a sign in the front window counting down the days. The owner must really be a fan because he started at day 65.

3) Asparagus, peas, strawberries. Anything that’s not root vegetables, cabbage, or apples.

My least favorite things about spring:

1) Sartorial indecision. Boots or flats? Tights or no tights? Heavy coat or light coat? No coat at all? Sometimes this can happen several times in the course of one day.

2) Allergies. Pollen is my worst enemy.

3) Spring forward. I’m still recovering from this one. I believe the first day after “spring forward” should be a national holiday so everyone can adjust.

What do you look forward to the most and least about spring?

I’ll leave you with the most springlike poem ever written—and which I had to memorize in grade school—In Just by e. e. cummings.

My most favorite things about Spring are:
    1. That first moment in the morning when you walk outside and the air is warm, balmy and smells so sweet that it should be bottled.

    2. Waking up to the sounds of birds singing and sounding so happy that you’d think there’s a party going on.

    3. Knowing that there are two more seasons to go before Winter comes back to make life miserable.

My least favorite things about Spring are:
    Pollen, Pollen and Pollen!!

    Happy Spring Everyone!!
